Winter Ready

We have been producing forecasts, nowcasting updates, sharing travel disruption news and helpful tips from October to April every year since 2008 to help you prepare for winter.

About Us

When temperatures drop and the snow falls

Routine monitoring of weather models from October to April allows us to spot any chance of approaching winter weather. However, most major models must agree on the evaluation before we can be confident. Our approach is to not post every single run on social media but we'll often update our status page once or twice a day along with essential updates including the very latest advisories (graphics issued to highlight areas we think may be worst affected!). These should never replace warnings by the Met Office. And of course you can expect public announcements, pictures, school closures, road, rail and air updates.
