Confidence:

On Friday, 2 January, cold air will sweep south bring within it frequent wintry showers. Scotland may see significant accumulations on higher ground, perhaps 15-20cm while 3-5cm is possible at sea level.

A feature will move southeastwards across England and Wales on Friday morning. There is still a bit of uncertainty on how far east or west it may track, so a few surprises to be had. We can generally expect 2-5cms in Wales, with anything from 0-3cm falling elsewhere, a locally 3-5cm is possible in places within the most likely area. We’ve refrained from issuing a MINOR here due to the uncertainty.

Showers may also move in off the north east into Eastern England. Similar amounts of 1-3cm in places with a locally accumulations of 3-5cm.
